SECOND HAND SHOPPING

A unique and exciting shopping experience awaits you!

Clitheroe Car Boot Sale is a fantastic marketplace for buying almost anything! We get a varied mix of new-good and second hand sellers coming through our doors, and you never can predict what you might find. From home goods and general car boot stock, through to antiques, collectables and architectural salvage, and everything in-between.

We've compiled a list of top tips to help you navigate your way through our car boot sale.

The early bird catches the worm - The best buys will usually sell early on (sometimes in the first 30 minutes!). Arrive at 8.00am for the best chance to find that unique item you've been looking for.

Be polite - Allow the sellers plenty of time to unpack their stock, please don't help yourself, be patient and ask nicely.

Second time around - Don't be afraid to go for a second look around, sellers may bring out fresh stock as the day progresses, or you may discover something you missed on your first pass.

Remember your change - Make sure to bring plenty of small change and notes, car boot sales are always cash only events. Car boot sales can be addictive, consider setting yourself a limit if you're prone to spending heavy.

Haggle (but be considerate) - Sellers have to pay for the stall rent, fuel costs, and the stock itself. Sellers deserve a decent price for good quality items. If you're considering something expensive, try waiting a little bit, some sellers may reduce prices later in the day.

Remember your bags - Dig out those forgotten bags for life that you keep promising to bring to the shops, because you'll need them. Each trip back to the car is wasted time you could spend looking for bargains.

Route planner - Plan your route around the car boot sale. There's so much to see, we wouldn't want you to miss out on anything. Browse in some sort of order so you remember where you've been and where you haven't.

Look carefully - Stalls can be packed to the brim with stock, and you may not see everything at a quick glance. Have a proper look at everything on offer and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Examine carefully - Check and inspect anything you're planning to buy for signs of excessive wear or damage. Damage isn't always a bad thing (you can use it as a bargaining chip to haggle on the price).

Finding collectables - Looking for something specific? Remain focused, it's easy to get distracted. Don't be afraid to strike up a conversation with the sellers, they might know where you can find what you're looking for.
