A FANTASTIC MARKETPLACE
TO SELL YOUR NEW
OR SECOND HAND GOODS

Sell your unwanted stuff and make some money in the process.

Clitheroe Car Boot Sale is a fantastic marketplace for selling your new or second hand goods! Whether its homewares, clothing, antiques and collectables, home made crafts, furniture, art, toys or jewellery, we've got buyers lining up to take a look.

Some of you may be retail geniuses or market stall masters, but for some of you, it may be a totally new experience, so we've put together a list of tips and tricks to help you along the way.

Be prepared - Make sure to set yourself an alarm (or two). You'll need a table (a paste table is best), and maybe some plastic sheets if you're planning an outdoor stall (we can't always guarantee bone dry ground).

Research - If you've never ran a car boot stall before, come along to one of our sales as a buyer first, you can take a look around and get an idea for how items are priced, what sells best etc. Think about what you'd consider paying for an item and price accordingly. Don't be afraid to bring higher priced items as well as cheaper ones, they all sell.

Bring a friend - You may wish to bring a friend or family member along to help you. It's easier to work in pairs when it gets busy.

Customer service - Be polite and friendly to the buyers,. Remember, they'll always try to haggle on the price, so be prepared for that. Don't be afraid to say no to unreasonable offers, but keep in mind you're here to sell.

Be ready on time - Once the main doors open, the buyers will rush in, all looking to be the first one to get a look at everything on offer. Try and have everything set up by 8.00am so you can keep a watchful eye on all your stock.

Bring plenty of change - You'll want to have plenty of change and low value notes. Some buyers may only have big notes on them, especially when making their first purchase of the day.

Keep your money close - Keep all your takings on you, preferably in a zipped pocket or bag. Keep a watchful eye on any bags or personal belongings at all times.

Stand out - Make sure your stall is well organised and easy to walk around. Sure people like to rummage but it's best to keep your more valuable items on a shelf or table. If you're running the stall as a business (eg house clearance company or antiques dealer) consider bringing a sign or banner to advertise.

Clean up afterwards - Items that haven't sold, consider taking them to a charity shop or try job-lotting them online. Please take all unsold items and any packaging home with you.

Dress accordingly - You'll be on your feet all day, so bring some comfortable shoes. If it's winter time, wrap up warm with gloves and a coat, it may be cold!

Stall pricing and information for sellers

We have space on site for up to 225 stalls across two large indoor barns and a large outdoor yard. The indoor barns are always open every Sunday (regardless of weather), the outdoor yard is weather dependent. We recommend booking online to guarantee your stall, but if you'd prefer not to book you can just turn up on the day.

Indoor stalls:

  • Small stalls (160 cm by 160 cm) - £4.00 each

  • Large stalls (340 cm by  200 cm) - £6.00 each

Indoor stallholders will need to unload their vehicles in the car park and carry the goods in to the building, unfortunately there is no option to bring vehicles in to the building. If you have a lot of items we recommend you bring a trolley. You will need to bring your own tables.

Where do we go?

If you've booked an indoor stall, follow the signs to the front car park and pull up by the loading door. Speak to staff, they may direct you to the rear loading door if it's closer to your stall. If you're going outdoors, drive down the side of the building and wait by the barriers, staff will show you into the yard.

Can we bring dogs?

Yes, dogs are permitted on-site, but please keep them on a lead.

Is there anything we can't sell?

As long as it's legal, you can sell it. No drugs, alcohol, stolen goods or dangerous weapons. Hot food vendors are also not permitted.

How many cars can we bring?

If you've booked an indoor stall, you can bring as many cars as you like, once you've unloaded we ask that you park out of the way to make room for others to unload. If you're selling outdoors, you may only bring one vehicle in to the yard, you could bring a second vehicle but it will have to stay in the car park.

Can I book an outdoor stall?

Unfortunately, due to the possibility of bad weather we can't take online bookings for outdoor pitches. There's plenty of room outdoors, if the weather is nice on the day just turn up and join the queue.
